Home Style - Thursday 2/25 Edition: Stunning Geometric Concrete Home

isaac broid teams up with assadi + pulido to erect concrete home in mexico

Mexican architect isaac broid has teamed up with chilean duo assadi + pulido to design a single-family residence that proposes an H-shaped scheme with two parallel pavilions. located in one of the most prestigious areas of mexico city, ‘casa roel’ shines with its simplicity and concrete grandeur. with an almost monochromatic appearance, the house was built with four materials: exposed concrete, glass, a beige stone for the flooring, and a light-colored wood on the ceiling. by placing it facing southwest, natural light flows through the whole plan that is set in only one level.

The house is composed of two parallel pavilions and one perpendicular that connects the other two. the one that is closest to the street contains the social areas, such as living room, dining room, and kitchen. its collateral pair in the background covers the bedrooms. the H-shaped structure is completely suspended, resting at the bottom of the site, that is sloped towards the street, generating different courtyards in the middle of the enclosures.

A garden covers an area that goes from the street to the back of the lot, including space under the construction. on the rooftop, terraces were added with gardens, as well as a swimming pool. this area not only saves garden space but gives interesting views towards the roofs of the neighboring houses and to a good part of the city. ‘casa roel’ received third place in the single-family category of the local CEMEX building awards 2015.

Home Style - Wednesday 2/24 Edition: David Guetta's Miami Penthouse

Occupying two levels on the 53rd and 54th floors of Paraiso Bay in the city’s ascendent Edgewater district, the luxe pad was custom-designed by Italian architect and designer Piero Lissoni for Guetta — who appears to be quite the at-home entertainer.

02guetta_09.jpg

The main level — which alone measures 2,472 square feet inside and has a 430-square-foot outdoor terrace — boasts a double-volume foyer and sculptural staircase, a master bedroom suite with large wardrobe space, as well as a great room and open kitchen. Upstairs, the second level — with a 500-square-foot den and a sprawling, 2,130-square-foot roof terrace — stands as the crown jewel with a private pool, summer kitchen and sunning deck.

As for the nitty-gritty counts, the unit will be delivered with three bedrooms and 3½ bathrooms. There will also be private elevator access, floor-to-ceiling windows and, best of all, views of the ocean.

The project is still under construction and is slated for fall 2016 completion. Guetta was repped in his deal by Zelda Freud of the Freud Group at South Beach Estates.

Paraiso Bay is one of four towers in the Related Group’s 5-acre Biscayne Bay-front Paraiso development, whose helping hands also include architecture firm Arquitectonica, industrial designer Karim Rashid, Swiss landscape architect Enzo Enea and United Design Partnership. (Lissoni also handled the designs for the lobbies and public spaces at two of the site’s other towers.)

Guetta will have some famous company at Paraiso: A-Rod recently nabbed a 3,200-square-foot penthouse at the Gran Paraiso tower (where similar units reportedly go for $4 million-plus), and other future neighbors include tennis champ Arantxa Sánchez Vicario and pro basketball player Manu Ginobili.

The Aussie actor — best known for playing Thor in “The Avengers” and other films, and who also nabbed the title of People’s “Sexiest Man Alive” in 2014 — just listed his 6,800-square-foot Malibu, Calif., manse for $6.5 million.

Hemsworth, along with actress wife Elsa Pataky and their three children, are relocating to Australia, according to the property gossips at Zillow, which first reported news of this listing.

Hemsworth’s pad stands in the Point Dume neighborhood — where Julia Roberts and the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith have residences — at 7022 Grasswood Ave. It comes with five bedrooms and six bathrooms, and underwent a renovation in 2012, when former owner Paul Hogan, of “Crocodile Dundee,” lived there.

The two-story property looks out to Pacific Ocean views, and verandas and balconies along this side of the home are big selling points.

The grounds also include a one-bedroom guest house, while the main home has top-line appliances and vaulted ceilings in the chef’s kitchen, plus a master suite with two walk-in closets and outdoor space with ocean and mountain views. Other amenities include a library and office spaces.

Ryan Davis of John Aaroe Group is repping this listing.

Home Style - Monday 2/22 Edition: Rupert Murdoch’s Penthouse

Spanning from the 57th to 60th floors of the ultra-luxurious One Madison skyscraper in New York City, the 4 level 10,160 sq. ft. showcase top-floor penthouse residence is the prize-jewel of the building. The remarkable residence offers a soaring double-height great room with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and a wraparound terrace, with uninterrupted 360-degree cinematic skyline views of Manhattan, river to river.

This residential masterpiece was designed with the utmost sophistication and aesthetic integrity offering elite architectural features including a double-height Great Room with a sweeping circular staircase, gracious master suite, a 586 sq. ft. wraparound terrace, and dual private internal elevators.

Taking cues from the Metabolist movement of the late 60’s and early 70’s, One Madison Park employs a modular plug-in design concept articulated through “pods”. These cube-like forms deconstruct the building’s mass and give it a sense of lightness while also creating linear variety. Cantilevered from the main shaft, the pods also extend the tower’s 2,700 sq. ft. floor plate to 3,300 sq. ft. making it one of New York’s most distinctive and thinnest skyscrapers. One Madison Park’s design is simple, yet characteristic and striking, conveying an understated elegance not often found in contemporary architecture.
