Home Style - Monday 2/22 Edition: Rupert Murdoch’s Penthouse

Spanning from the 57th to 60th floors of the ultra-luxurious One Madison skyscraper in New York City, the 4 level 10,160 sq. ft. showcase top-floor penthouse residence is the prize-jewel of the building. The remarkable residence offers a soaring double-height great room with dramatic floor-to-ceiling windows and a wraparound terrace, with uninterrupted 360-degree cinematic skyline views of Manhattan, river to river.

This residential masterpiece was designed with the utmost sophistication and aesthetic integrity offering elite architectural features including a double-height Great Room with a sweeping circular staircase, gracious master suite, a 586 sq. ft. wraparound terrace, and dual private internal elevators.

Taking cues from the Metabolist movement of the late 60’s and early 70’s, One Madison Park employs a modular plug-in design concept articulated through “pods”. These cube-like forms deconstruct the building’s mass and give it a sense of lightness while also creating linear variety. Cantilevered from the main shaft, the pods also extend the tower’s 2,700 sq. ft. floor plate to 3,300 sq. ft. making it one of New York’s most distinctive and thinnest skyscrapers. One Madison Park’s design is simple, yet characteristic and striking, conveying an understated elegance not often found in contemporary architecture.
