Ambling around in the old town of Tacubaya in Mexico City, one might chance upon a 6-meter-high colonial-era perimeter wall that blends perfectly into its surroundings.
Inside, however, is a different story. Designed by Andrés Stebelski Arquitecto, the enclosed house within is an airy and light-drenched complex, featuring two floors and four courtyards along a chessboard-like configuration alternating between interior spaces and courtyards.
On the ground floor are public spaces such as the entrance, car parking, kitchen, dining room and study, whereas the second floor houses three bedrooms, each with its own dressing room and bathroom.
The double-height living room, flanked by a formidable bookshelf, acts as a connector to the spaces, both inside and out. Ample vegetation throughout blurs the boundary between interior and exterior, while a lush roof garden surrounds a sunroom, making for an idyllic scene.
MR PORTER, which was asked to create the on-screen wardrobe for the suave Kingsmen, has released its designs under a comprehensive brand, aptly named Kingsman, of which its second collection is shown below.
Taking inspiration from, and the skills of London’s crème de la crème in suitwear — including the world-renowned tailors of Savile Row, shoemakers George Cleverly at Royal Arcade, centuries-old hatter Lock & Co. on St James’s Street, and Royal Warrant-holding shirtmakers Turnbull & Asser on Jermyn Street — Kingsman creates suiting for the modern-day gentleman with a focus on heritage fabrics, such as stone linen, tweed, and Ventile.
“It’s built on the same basic principle: the traditional image of the British gentleman, given a 21st-century update. Imagine the members’ Pavilion at Lord’s, or the Stewards’ Enclosure at Henley. It’s the gentleman at leisure, in other words. Building this new collection was all about playing with, but modernising, these archetypes,” says Toby Bateman, Buying Director at MR PORTER.
Beyoncé and JAY Z have purchased a new home in New Orleans worth $2.6 million USD. Built in 1925, the luxurious Spanish Baroque, named La Casa de Castile, boasts 13,000 square feet of space as 26-foot high ceilings accentuate the plush aesthetic. Highlighting the church-turned-mansion is the red master suite, which features chandeliers and an antique claw-foot bathtub as a massive residential green roof decorates the rooftop deck. The three-story space also houses a total of 22 rooms as the open-concept design complements the polished hardwood floors. Check it:
