Friday 3/4 Design: One With Nature - New Contemporary Home Blends In With Natural Landscape

char

Clad in locally sourced charred cedar, the simple, low-slung Johnsen Schmaling Architects-designed building seems at one with the forest of deciduous and coniferous trees surrounding it, especially considering that the roof of the ground level is also densely vegetated. The cedar panels, installed at slightly different angles, also help soften blur the boundary between the home and nature. The interior, on the hand, looks decidedly sleeker with, extensive glass walls, a stark white paint job, and a floating white steel staircase.
