Azzam, or ‘Success’, has claimed the top prize for the worlds largest super yacht. Almost the length of two soccer fields, it measures a colossal 591 feet. Designed by Nauta Yachts, and built by Lurssen at a cost of $609 million.
The superyacht features a 95 foot main salon with a 60 foot unobstructed beam. Under the hood, this super yacht is powered by two diesel engines and drawing its real power from the additional two gas turbines, all together producing an astounding 94,000 horse power. The Azzam is able to reach cruising speeds in excess of 30 knots.
No expense was spared for the interior either. Renowned French designer, Christophe Leoni, was brought in to design a sophisticated and luxurious interior in an Empire style. Prince Alwaleed bin Talal Al Saud, the Arab world’s wealthiest individual with an estimated fortune of $25.9bn, is the rumoured buyer of the planet’s largest superyacht.
